Let Power over Ethernet Change Your Business – Shop Now
Power over Ethernet (PoE) provides power and network connectivity for PoE-powered devices over a single network cable. It's a 2 in 1 solution, so you don't have to worry about placing your devices next to a power outlet. PoE devices range from wireless access points, IP cameras, VoIP phones, PoE LED lighting, PoE speakers to IoT doorbells and other IoT devices. These devices are powered and in some cases manageable by our PoE switches.

Benefits of
Deploying PoE
![cost](/images/Landings/Poe/cost.png)
LOWER INFRASTRUCTURE AND INSTALLATION COSTS
Fewer, separate power adapters are needed and only one cable run is required rather than two.
![control](/images/Landings/Poe/control.png)
CENTRALIZED CONTROL
Manage power to devices from a centralised switch. Power down/up devices as required for energy and cost savings.
![electrician](/images/Landings/Poe/electrician.png)
NO NEED FOR ELECTRICIANS
Uses existing IT networking infrastructure.
![wireless](/images/Landings/Poe/wireless.png)
EXTENDS WIRED AND WIRELESS NETWORK REACH
Not limited to fixed power outlet placements.
![wire](/images/Landings/Poe/wire.png)
OVERCOMES HARD TO WIRE ENVIRONMENTS
Including old or ‘protected’ buildings.
![reliability](/images/Landings/Poe/reliability.png)
RELIABILITY
Redundant Power Supply (RPS) backup options helps keep devices running even in the event of a power outage. Important for business critical services, such as IP Telephony based Call Centers.

PoE devices need wattage power
There are 3 existing PoE standards
PoE (802.3af)
Type 1:
The original PoE standard provides 15.4W of power to the Ethernet port to be sent = 12.95W of delivered power at 100M distance from the switch.
PoE+(802.3at)
Type 2:
PoE+ effectively doubles the PoE power to the device by providing 30W of power to the Ethernet port to be sent = 25.5W of delivered power at 100M distance from the switch.
PoE++(802.3bt)
Type 3 and 4:
PoE++ (bt) now effectivel doubles the PoE+ power to the device by providing 60W (Type 3) or 90W (Type 4) of power not only to the Ethernet port to be sent, but all the way to the device (if cable length is known) at 100M distance from the switch. Minimum delivered power at 100M is 51W (Type 3) and 71W (Type 4) respectively.

What can you power with PoE?
Each PoE port powers up to 15W at a very short distance. Power delivered at a longer distance (up to 100m) is 12.95W. Typical devices needing less than 12.95W are:
- IP Phones with small or no display
- Indoor Wireless 802.11n or 2x2 Wireless 802.11ac Access Points
- Simple IP Cameras
What can you power with PoE+?
Each PoE+ port powers up to 30W at a very short distance. Power delivered at a longer distance (up to 100m) is 25.5W. Typical devices needing less than 25.5W are:
- IP Phones with a large display, video phones, conference systems
- Up to 4x4 Wireless 802.11ac (WiFi 5) or 2x2 802.11ax (WiFi 6) Access Points
- Pan-Tilt-Zoom HD IP Cameras without heaters
- Small audio speakers
- Door locks and other IoT devices
What can you power with Ultra 60 PoE++?
Each PoE++ port powers up to 60W at a very short distance. Power delivered at a longer distance (up to 100m) is 51W. Typical devices needing less than 51W are:
- IP Phones with a large display, video phones, conference systems
- Up to 4x4 Wireless 802.11ax (WiFi 6) Access Points
- Pan-Tilt-Zoom HD IP Cameras with heaters
- Ceiling tiles LED Lighting
- Large audio speakers
- Digital signage displays
- AV over IP encoders/decoders

The NETGEAR Innovation - FlexPoE
Upgradeable PoE Budgets
Industry first: NETGEAR FlexPoE, available on select NETGEAR PoE switches, allow you to upgrade your switch PoE budget with new power adapters without replacing the entire switch.
The real benefit for the customer is that if you’re not sure how much PoE power you’ll need and have a limited budget, you can purchase the lower-powered version of the switch, and then, as your PoE needs grow, you can later upgrade the power adapter to get more PoE budget, as opposed to traditional switches, where you would need to completely replace the entire switch to get more power, costing you more in the end. NETGEAR FlexPoE is available on the following models: GS108LP, GS108PP, GS116LP, GS116PP, GC108P, GS110TPP
